Paris Travel Tips: Beyond the Louvre - Discovering Hidden Gems

After the Louvre, cross the Seine to the Musée d'Orsay for Impressionist masterpieces, or visit the smaller Musée de l'Orangerie to see Monet's Water Lilies in purpose-built oval rooms. Both are within walking distance and far less overwhelming.
Stroll through the Jardin des Tuileries right outside the Louvre — a perfect spot for a coffee break with views of the pyramid. Then explore the Marais district for independent galleries, vintage shops, and some of the best falafel in Paris.
For a local experience, skip the tourist traps along Champs-Élysées and head to Canal Saint-Martin or Belleville for authentic bistros, street art, and a glimpse of everyday Parisian life away from the crowds.
